Bahy is a filmmaker with a personal perspective, raised between the worlds of art, music, and literature in an Egyptian family that broadened his horizons toward deep philosophical questions, yet anchored him to his Egyptian roots, thoughts, and traditions. Having built a strong education and foundation in graphic design, photography, and cinema, he was trained — both intentionally and unintentionally — to see the world through his own lens, and in his own taste, learning to capture moments through eyes that are native and original, yet open to contradiction and complexity. His films often explore the lives of ordinary Egyptians, delving into themes of self-worth, the tension between philosophical ideas and everyday reality, and the contradictions that come with growing up in a land of rich cultural diversity. With a growing body of work that includes web series, short films, and documentaries, Bahy continues to capture the human experience on screen, revealing beauty in the ordinary and giving voice to untold stories. Still early in a career that already shows a clear and consistent vision, Bahy is a filmmaker who knows where he comes from, and is still figuring out, with every film, where that can take him.
