David Walter Hall

Born 1983 · Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK

Dave is a writer and director, originally from Belfast, now living in London. He began writing drama while studying Philosophy at Cambridge University, where he directed his first play, Cross Road Blues, at the university's ADC theatre in 2003. Following a successful Edinburgh run, Cross Road Blues went on to be produced in the main house of the Hackney Empire in 2009. Meanwhile, Dave had begun writing work commissioned by independent theatre groups, returning to Edinburgh and staging work at London venues including Riverside Studios and the King’s Head in Islington. His first experiment in screenwriting led to his award-winning debut feature film Passing Through, which he directed with an international production team in the South of France, shooting in 2019. Passing Through starred Mark Little (Neighbours) and Lilit Lesser (Wolf Hall) and after a run at festivals in 2023, was released in 2025.
