In 2019, and with a few thousand dollars in hand, Deering wrote and directed Spirit Animal. The shot on video (SOV) horror was received with positive reviews. With that success, Deering went on to direct several shorts for the Natasha Nighty's Boudoir of Blood anthology series. Madeline Deering's latest film is Bathtub Shark Attack, which was originally featured as a trailer in Spirit Animal.
