He left AIADMK on 03 January 2017 (after Sasikala was elected) only to rejoin on 07 January 2017. When he left he announced that he was retiring from Tamil Nadu politics. He was previously with Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) party in 2012 which he left to join AIADMK.[1] He served as deputy propaganda secretary from when he joined until 01 February 2016.
