Director

Nick Alonzo

Nick Alonzo is an independent, self-taught filmmaker based in Chicago. Inspired by Sam Raimi's "The Evil Dead" (1981), film became a hobby and a passion. Fascinated with cinema at an early, impressionable age, Alonzo learned the ropes of filmmaking and pursued his interest through several cinematic pieces. In 2013, Alonzo directed, wrote and produced his first short film "Cut," a dark-comedy short about a man bleeding to death after accidentally cutting himself with a document file. The short - filmed on a $30 budget - was selected and screened at Columbia College for the 2013 CineYouth Film Festival. In the summer of 2014, Alonzo challenged himself to produce his first feature-length film, "Shitcago," a dark, quasi-autobiographical comedy. Loosely based on personal events and people Alonzo met in Chicago, the film follows a young loner as he wanders the city of Chicago and encounters many idiosyncratic characters. After overcoming several obstacles during the year of production, "Shitcago" was completed in the summer of 2015 and screened at a private event at The Logan Theater in Chicago. Alonzo hopes to screen his film at many film festivals including local ones.
