Ezz Eldin Zulficar

An Egyptian writer and film director, who was born on October 28, 1919, to a well-off family with five sons. After completing his secondary studies, he joined the Military College and graduated as an officer, and worked in the Egyptian army. His friend, director Kamal Selim, and then director Mohamed Abdel Gawad, tried to persuade him to work in the cinema until he agreed and worked as an assistant director to Mohamed Abdel Gawad. Then he began making his way as a director, script writer and produced his first film Prisoner of Darkness in 1947. He also directed and co-wrote the script for more than 30 films, including: Port Said, Love Street, Among the Ruins and The Second Man.
