Razane Jammal is a British-Lebanese actress who is fluent in English, French, and Arabic. She has had enormous success both at home and abroad and has played a variety of roles throughout her career, acting in many different dialects. In the Arab world, Razane is best known for her portrayal of Maggie Maccaleb in Netflix's first Egyptian original series Paranormal (2020) alongside Egyptian actors Ahmed Amin and Ayah Samaha. The show, inspired by the wildly successful books by the late Dr. Ahmed Khalid Tawfik, is directed by Amr Salama and Majid Al Ansari. She has also starred opposite legendary actresses Hend Sabry in MBC’s comedy series Embratoreyet Meen (Who’s Empire?) (2014), Youssra and Kosai Khauli on the second season of the period show Saraya Abedeen (Abdeen Palace) (2014), and Taim Hassan in her first Pan-Arab series Ana (2021) as Judy. She also played Dr. Iman in the Shahid original show Al Shak (Doubt) (2021) alongside Saudi actress Fatima Al Banawi. Jammal has also made a name for herself in the international film industry with her diverse roles in French, British and American projects, three of which have participated at the Cannes Film Festival: Cruel Summer (2012) by Kanye West, critically acclaimed and award-winning American rapper and one of the most influential hip-hop musicians of all time, Une Histoire de Fou (2014) by Robert Guediguian, and Carlos (2010) by Olivier Assayas, which received a Golden Globe in 2011. Her other projects include A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) alongside actor Liam Neeson with The Queen's Gambit’s director Scott Franks, the American series Berlin Station (2016) with Rhys Ifans, Richard Jenkins, and Michelle Forbes, Channel 4’s mini-series, Chimerica (2019) with actor Alessandro Nivola, and Eric and Quentin’s French comedy Bad Buzz (2016). In 2022, Razane will appear as Lyta Hall in DC Comics' highly anticipated The Sandman on Netflix’s global platform and in Marwan Hamed's star-studded film, Kira & El Gin. Razane, who was born and bred in Lebanon, found her passion for acting early on and started drama classes at school when she was 6 years old. She then started modeling and acting in commercials at the age of 15, and by the age of 17, she had already traveled across the globe to appear on numerous covers and in many video clips, commercials, and short films. She then traveled to the UK and enrolled at King’s College London to study business while taking summer acting workshops in Paris, Los Angeles, and New York. After graduation, Razane got her first break on the Golden Globe-winning series Carlos, marking the beginning of her acting career. During her spare time, Razane enjoys photography, drawing, and writing. She is a frequent student at Heatherley’s School of Art in London and is hoping to one day exhibit her works. She is also in the middle of publishing her first children’s book, ‘Lulu & Blu’, and is preparing her first short film.
